SOUNDBAR.SB380 Overview

The SB380 has a slim aluminum cabinet that encloses three full range speakers, a digital amplifier, built-in sub-woofer and great features like AccuVoice dialogue boost. Similar to other ZVOX sound bars, the SB380 features a smaller amplifier, one less input, and does not include Bluetooth streaming. By cutting back on non-crucial features, ZVOX is able to price the SB380 at only $299.99. One feature that has NOT been eliminated is ZVOX's revolutionary AccuVoice dialogue boost, which uses hearing aid technology to make voices crystal-clear.

The SB380 can be placed on its "back" in situations where space is at a premium. In this installation the LED display is replaced with an LED indicator light. See photo gallery for examples.

More Detail for the Detail-Minded

Great Sound. The most important feature for any home theater system is high quality sound. The SB380 uses three high-performance speakers, a built-in powered subwoofer, an acoustically stable aluminum cabinet and a 118-watt Class D digital amplifier to create warm, natural sound and surprisingly powerful bass.

Uses your Remote Control. The SB380 can be programmed to respond to your remote control. The illuminated display walks you through the process in less than a minute. Then your TV remote or cable box remote or satellite receiver remote or any remote can control volume, mute, and power.

Taming Loud Commercials. If you've ever been blasted out of your chair by a too-loud commercial, or by a cable channel that's twice as loud as another channel, you'll love the Output Leveling (OL) feature on the ZVOX SB380. Just push the 'OL' button and a sophisticated compression system takes over, making soft sounds louder and loud sounds softer, so there are fewer jarring moments when switching channels or when commercials come on.

Big Sound From Small Cabinet. You don't need a room full of speakers for home theater sound. The SB380 uses the PhaseCue virtual surround system to give you rich, three-dimensional sound with movies or music. Sound & Vision Magazine says the PhaseCue system “creates an impressive spread of sound, far larger than the box itself, remarkably ingenious.”

Clear Voice Reproduction. Do you ever have trouble understanding voices while watching a TV show? Then you’ll love the AccuVoice feature on the SB380. It uses hearing aid technology to tailor the sound so voices are crystal-clear. No other system matches the voice clarity of AccuVoice.

Slim Aluminum Cabinet. The SB380 features a stylish, slim cabinet constructed of anodized aluminum – not plastic. The metal design provides low-resonance audio characteristics, and allows the SB380 to produce room-filling sound while maintaining a slim cabinet depth of 3.2 inches.

MegaBass. The new ZVOX MegaBass feature uses digital processing to tailor sound and control the subwoofer to a degree never before achieved. The result is robust, accurate bass – down to 58 Hz – without an external subwoofer. You won’t believe it…until you hear it.

Technical Details
  • Dimensions: 35.5 "W x 3.3 "D x 5.7 "H
  • Weight: 9.8 pounds. With box and packing: 14 pounds.
  • Amplifier: The SB380 uses a high-efficiency 118 watt Class D digital amplifier.
  • Inputs: (1) analog stereo input, (2) optical (Toslink) digital input,
  • Frequency range: 58 Hz - 20 kHz.
  • Virtual surround sound: The SB380 uses ZVOX's proprietary PhaseCue virtual surround sound processing. PhaseCue, as its name implies, manipulates the phase of the separate channels to "fool the ear" into believing that sound is coming from a variety of sources throughout the room. The benefits of PhaseCue vary greatly based on program material. Live music and well-recorded modern movie soundtracks will deliver rich, three-dimensional sound – pulling the sound out from the speakers and into the room, literally surrounding the listener. Note: All virtual surround systems – including the PhaseCue system – are limited in their effects when compared to a good 5.1 system. And sitcoms, news broadcasts and soundtracks from older movies often have very little in the way of three-dimensional sound. That being said, PhaseCue is capable of generating a wonderful and engaging virtual surround experience.

What critics and customers say about ZVOX products.

" ZVOX’s SB500 proved itself an extremely able music reproducer but an even better movie machine capable of surprisingly powerful, deep bass and dynamic headroom that I’ve simply never heard before in any one-piece soundbar. It’s a remarkable standalone solution and, given the performance of the integrated subwoofer system and the superb build quality, an excellent value.” Sound & Vision magazine

“The Zvox SB500 sound bar offers great sound quality and a simple setup process. Bass is plentiful despite the lack of a subwoofer. Styling is chic and the unit seems well put together. The SB500 is among the best for the money, period. This could be the soundbar to beat this year.” CNET

“The Accuvoice assumes you actually want to hear what the characters are saying instead of just feeling the bass of explosions in-between dialogue. Recommended by Forbes.” Forbes

“The ZVOX AccuVoice AV200 is a basic soundbar that incorporates sound processing tech like hearing aids. In my tests, the speaker made voices louder and clearer.” Wall St. Journal

“The ZVOX AccuVoice TV Speaker’s clear voice reproduction is a godsend.” About.com

It’s Compact

The SoundBar SB380 is only 35.5 ” wide by 3.3 ” deep by 5.7 ” high. Everything is inside this compact cabinet – speakers, amplifier, virtual surround circuitry and powered subwoofer.

Simple Installation

The SB380 requires only one connecting cord -- you can use either analog or digital connection options. Connect the one cord and you're done.

Simple To Use

In about one minute you can follow a simple routine that will "teach" the SB380 to respond to the commands of your TV or cable/satellite remote control. So you can adjust control volume, mute, input and power with your remote, not ours. When you've finished the routine, turning on your TV will automatically turn on the ZVOX system. About three minutes after you turn off your TV, the ZVOX system will automatically go into standby mode.

Virtual Surround Sound

The SB380 uses ZVOX’s proprietary PhaseCue virtual surround processing to give you rich, three-dimensional sound with movies or music. With music, PhaseCue creates a very wide soundstage – it literally sounds like you are listening to speakers eight feet apart from each other. When listening to a good movie, the soundtrack will envelope you – putting you in the middle of the action. While no virtual surround system – including ours – will give you the surround effects of a good 5.1 system, the SB380 does a remarkable job. Sound & Vision magazine calls our PhaseCue system “remarkably ingenious.”

Bluetooth Wireless Audio

The system uses an aptX Bluetooth receiver to stream high quality music wirelessly from your phone, tablet or computer. Play iTunes, Pandora, Spotify or other music formats wirelessly through the ZVOX system..

Dialogue Enhancement for Super Clear Vocals

Our exclusive "AccuVoice®"; dialogue enhancement feature uses hearing aid technology to make voices unbelievably clear and easy to understand, at any volume. This is especially useful to people who suffer from hearing loss or impairment.

Taming Loud Commercials

If you've ever been blasted out of your chair by a too-loud commercial, or by a cable channel that's twice as loud as another channel, you'll love the Output Leveling (OL) feature on the ZVOX SB380. Just push the 'OL' button and a sophisticated compression system takes over, making soft sounds louder and loud sounds softer, so there are fewer jarring moments when switching channels or when commercials come on.

10 Reasons To Choose
ZVOX Home Theater Systems
  1. Better Sound. Most speaker companies seem to be entirely focused on features. We're focused on sound quality. Our Design Team, headed by industry veteran Jarl Salmela, is the best in our category. We use high quality amplifiers and speakers in robust cabinets to make true high fidelity speakers. Look at our consistently high consumer ratings and our long list of Editor's Choice Awards. Or better yet, use our 60-day home trial and listen for yourself.
  2. Center Speakers. It is not cheap to have dedicated center speakers and amplifiers in a TV sound system. Which explains why ZVOX systems are the only ones in our price range that include center speakers. We think center speakers are worth it because they deliver richer, more anchored midrange sound reproduction – and super-clear voices.
  3. AccuVoice Feature. Our AccuVoice feature uses hearing aid technology to create crystal-clear voice reproduction. No other brand offers this technology. With TV sound systems getting smaller and smaller, TV dialogue is often muddled and incomprehensible. AccuVoice fixes that.
  4. Wood or Aluminum Cabinets. Virtually all sound bars and base-style home theater systems use plastic cabinets. Because plastic is cheap, and you can form it into cool, curvy shapes. But wood/MDF (medium density fiberboard) and aluminum make much better speaker cabinets – providing better strength and rigidity, and lower resonance. That's why we use these materials, even though they are much more expensive.
  5. Multiple Inputs. ZVOX systems aren't just for TV – our sound systems have a choice of selectable inputs–including wireless Bluetooth reception. So you can connect an external wifi audio receiver (like Chromecast Audio or a Play-Fi receiver), tablet/phone, CD player or even some turntables – anything with an audio output.
  6. A Real Display. Our display tells you your volume level, bass and treble setting, surround modes and much more – then disappears when not in use. Our competitors just have flashing lights.
  7. Great Subwoofers, Built In. ZVOX sound bar and SoundBase systems deliver deep, accurate bass without the need for an external subwoofer cabinet and wires.
  8. Actually Works With Your Remote. Other companies may claim that their systems can work with your remote. Ours really do.
  9. The Right Size For Every TV. We offer SoundBase and sound bar systems in a variety of sizes and shapes. No matter what size TV you have, there's a ZVOX that with work well with it.
  10. Lowest Prices Ever. We're now offering our lowest prices ever on all of our sound systems. Don't delay – now is the time to get a ZVOX!
